Day One is a community-based nonprofit organization with a 19-year history of providing effective, high quality and culturally-sensitive public health education, intervention, and policy development. Day One grew out of a collective vision of concerned community leaders in 1987. Their vision was spurred by the drug epidemic in Pasadena and Altadena, especially among youth and in the Northwest area. Day One’s mission is to provide an organizational structure by which Pasadena and Altadena will reduce the problems associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. Day One’s role in drug prevention services is multi-focal - convener, developer, coordinator, facilitator, provider - allowing us to facilitate community organization, policy development, and youth and community empowerment.
