Public policy is essential to achieving meaningful changes and Day One seeks to assist communities, as key agents of change, as well as policymakers, in gathering relevant data and information, analyzing research findings, identifying policy options and supporting advocacy efforts that can lead to improved quality of life. Additionally, a founding member of Nuisance Abatement Team, a city wide collaborative to reduce nuisances and problems related to crime and drugs.
- Instrumental in developing the Nuisance Abatement Team (NAT) in Pasadena. NAT sponsors the alcohol minor decoy stings and addresses other alcohol, tobacco, and other drug nuisances. The team consists of Day One, Prosecutor’s Office, Neighborhood Connection, Fire Department, Police Department, Code Enforcement, and HUD/Housing.
- As member of city-wide taskforce on Nuisance Liquor Store Working Group, helped craft 11 recommendations for community-wide abatement of nuisance associated with alcohol.
- Facilitated the enactment of the City of Pasadena’s local fee increase of liquor license applications, enabling the City to check condition compliance on a monthly basis during the first six months of the liquor license and quarterly thereafter.
- Merchant Education to promote compliance with Penal Code 308(a) and to educate them on “blunts” and bidis.
- Merchant Education on underage drinking and alcohol content.
- Instrumental in the formation of the Pasadena Colleges Together (PACT addresses college alcohol and drug problems) and the Pasadena Employee Assistance Network
- Monitoring Conditional Use Permits for sale of Alcohol and Tobacco

- Altadena Town Council Resolution to support SB 148 and “Deemed Approved” like structure for unincorporated areas of the county
